1. Choose a "golden line" from your novel and explain. This line should be something important, surprising or meaningful.
2. Was there an action taken by one of the characters with which you disagreed? Why did you disagree and what would you have done differently?
3. Did this book make you laugh? Cry? Cringe? Smile? Cheer? Explain the emotion(s) you felt while reading.
I have just finished reading,"The Hunger Games", and I thought that it was amazing! From the bone chilling, killing parts, to the romance between Katniss and Peeta, I couldn`t put the book down! I can`t wait to read the second one,"Catching Fire!"

I am in the middle of 'The Hunger Games' and I have a few emotions I feel about the book. I am always excited to see what is going to happen next. I always keep the pages turning and I get very anxious to experience the following scenes of the book. I intend to read 'Catching Fire' before the end of the year so I can read 'Mocking Jay' for summer reading. I hope that keep reading and finish the series soon!
There's always that one book that brings shivers up my spine. It's called, "Scary Stories 3: More Tales To Chill Your Bones," written by Alvin Schwartz. There were many emotions I felt while reading. The main emotion I felt was fear. I was blown away from the scary images within. In addition, the details Alvin brought together made my heart race from fright. The suspense made me afraid something would happen to one of the various main characters as the climax approached closer and closer, word by word. I also felt sadness while reading. Death was the greatest cause. It made my heart pump its blood with anguish after every beat. This book was so emotional; so it kept controlling me to finish it!

The book series that really entices me to read on is The Hunger Games. The book in the series that I am reading is The Hunger Games. This book has many important lines, but the most important one, or the "golden line" is probably, "Ladies and gentlemen, let the Seventy-fourth annual Hunger Games begin!" This might be the most important line in the book. After reading it, you know that the action is going to start. That is the line which makes you want to read the rest of the book without stopping. Without that line, you would never know, unless you made the inference, when the Hunger Games started. Without that one, enticing, amazing, brilliant sentence, there would be no book. Katniss Everdeen took many actions in this book, and some I disagreed with. The first was when she kept the inaccurately shot arrow until she got the bow from Glimmer. I would have either dropped the arrow from up in the trees onto one of the Careers to impale one of them, or I would have constructed a makeshift bow out of branches and shoot. Also, another action that she took that I would've done differently was when Katniss blew up the Career's supplies. I would have, after seeing what Foxface did, killed the kid standing guard, maneuver around the mines, gotten a lot of food, and then blown up the supplies. There were many parts of this book that got me emotionally. That happened when I found out that the Capitol forced the kids to fight to the death. I was shocked. That's the emotion I felt while reading. Even though there was a rebellion, why would a people make kids kill one another? Some kids in the Games were our age: just 12! I was completely shocked and taken aback by that. The Hunger Games series is the best, so I strongly advise that you read it.

ReplyDeleteRight now I'm reading Margret Mitchell's Gone With The Wind. It's a tantalizing romance novel taking place during the Civil War. A line that represents Gone With The Wind is "I'll never be hungry again." During the war, food was scarce. Scarlett O'Hara, the main character, needed to feed 10+ people. With only dried peas to eat, Scarlett and her family went to bed and woke up hungry. She vowed that, after the war, she would eat like a royal queen and wear the finest silk clothes to feel like her old rich self. It turned out, Scarlett's wish came true and, after the war, she had more than just dried peas, she had her lovely old home, Tara. It seems Scarlett was one of the few lucky ones.
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading the third Harry Potter book which is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. This is a very exciting book and it it always keeps me on the edge of my seat because you never know what will happen next. Last year in fifth grade I read the first Harry Potter book. After I loved the first one, i continued to read the second one and now the third. During this book, Harry Potter might have did some things that I disagree with. For example, during this book Harry Potter is told to stay inside the castles at all times beacuse they want to keep him safe from the killer thats after him. Harry Potter ignores this request and decides to go outside by himself all the time. Overall this book is amazing. now that I am reaching the last 20 pages of the book I cant wait to start the next book in the series.

I always had so many feelings while reading, "The Glades." My first feeling was humor. Since I read this in fourth grade, I giggled at every curse word. The second feeling I felt was confusion. I wan't really understanding what was going on, probably because the book was for adults.

ReplyDeleteI read The Hunger Games for the reading games, and a golden line for this amazing book would be,"I volunteer as tribute!" This is a golden line because this was when Katniss Everdeen volunteers as a tribute instead of her sister, Primrose Everdeen. This also shows how much she cares about her sister. She volunteered herself to enter a forest outside of their world to kill 23 other children. It shows she didn`t want her sister to die.
2.I strongly disagreed with the action Casper Wyoming took by kidnapping Atticus Rosenbloom. I disagreed because he had nothing to do with the Cahill family. What I would have done was try to take out the Cahill’s once and for all.

I almost done with Animal farm and a deep meaningful quote will have to be " The quickest way of ending a war is to lose it. " because it is true that if you try hard you can win it but if you dont try at all and do the easy way you will lose.I disagree when the animals confessed and got killed for their actions. One peed in the drinking water and they thought he should be punished.I would'nt have done this at all. So far in this book it made me think because the hardship the animals went through and the wars they had with the humans. It is also upseting that the animals worked very hard to build a windmill but at one of the wars the humans blew it up with tnt.
i just finished Cahills vs Vespers Dead of Night. In my opinion, this book was very good. This book sometimes left me at a cliffhanger and made me want to read more and more.I nver wanted to put down. This book made me smile, laugh, and cry. It made me cry whenever the characters would talk about the characters. Out of all the characters, the most suspicious one was Vesper One. The most important line is "Get me a stale orb or Uncle Alistair will be my second victim." This line basically tells what the main idea of the story is. The action i strongly disagreed with was when Ian went to see his mom. To me this was stupid because his mom could have killed him. Luckily, she didn't kill him. Overall, this book was really good.
